LAKE MAGGIORE - LAND OF COLOURS AND PASSION
Lake Maggiore with its length of 65 km and amplitude of 11 km is Italy’s second-largest lake. A fifth of the lake is located in the Italian-speaking Switzerland Ticino, the other part is Italian territory. Secured from the Alps, the lake provides ideal mixture of Mediterranean and alpine climate. Lake Maggiore has attracted tourists with its Mediterranean charm for over hundred of years. European artists and writers , from Frisch to Highsmith, from Hesse to Remarque, also rich industrialists and noblemen have chosen their residence here. The most beautiful lake of Italy has an incredible appeal.

Here palms are growing next to chestnut trees, and hiking trails above the lake offer a memorable panorama, the air smells like jasmine. The allurement of the lake will take you into his charme.
Not only beautiful landscapes, nice beaches, the famous regional cuisine and good wine, moreover you can enjoy endless walking trails with a lot of tranquillity and many sport activities during your free time. Then again, you could also just sit down, relax and leave behind the sorrows of the days. Every desire is catered for.
Here, on the east side of the lake where the sun sets late in the evening and the nature is untouched lies the lovely city Luino. There we founded our company IMITALIA in 1967.
LUINO - ENCHANTING CITY ON THE SUNNY BANK
With about 15.000 Inhabitants Luino is the biggest City on the east bank of Lake Maggiore. As from the 19th century, the city situated at the estuary of the river Tresa has developed into a residential and tourism centre. Luino is famous for its weekly market on Wednesday, where you can find everything from clothing, special leather goods and shoes to household items and Italian specialities.
Luino and the surrounding region offer an wide range of sport activities, like golf, tennis and a manifold variety of water sports. Due to the proximity to Switzerland you can quickly reach popular cities like Locarno, Ascona or Lugano, which offer exciting Jazz festivals in summer and a paradise for ski and snowboard fans during the winter. Thanks to good transport connections the famous fashion metropolis Milan is not far as well. See the popular Scala, the impressive Cathedral, countless museums and worthy shopping centres. Luino provides a daily ferry service to reach every small and large city around the Lake Maggiore. The Veddasca Valley with its gorgeous trails is just a few miles away.
